😂Choosing Joy is a Radical ActI see myself as a spiritual rebel. I value self-compassion, self-care, self-acceptance, and self-love above all. When I practice these in my own life, I can share them with others. I feel happy when I remember that I can both feel and spread joy, even during times of injustice and
corruption. Lately, I have chosen to focus on joy instead of despair, because it feels necessary for everyone and freeing for my own heart. I'm practicing making choices that bring me joy, which I like to call "joices." Reclaiming my power in this way feels like a peaceful act of resistance during chaotic times. I plan to keep creating joyful moments, noticing and celebrating small wins, and allowing myself to feel hope and connection to something bigger, even when it
feels tough. In the words of the great poet and activist Audre Lorde, “Caring for myself is not self-indulgence, it is self-preservation, and that is an act of political warfare.”
😋 Are you savoring micro-joys? - Are you giving yourself permission to choose joy, and reclaim your right to happiness and hope?
- Are you savoring small pleasures like
your morning hot drink, the vibrant blue skies, a baby's giggle, and the brisk Autumn air?
- Are you playing? When you practice yoga, move to feel good rather than look good. Play with breath and micro-movements. When you sing, vocalize to feel good, rather than sound good.
- Are you exploring? Watch your thoughts and explore the option of chuckling at yourself when you witness your thinking veering off
into catastrophizing.
- Are you setting healthy boundaries? Conserving your precious life energy makes more room for joy.
- Are you grateful? Notice and appreciate goodness, beauty and kindness.
Jon Kabat-Zinn's famous quote is: "As long as you are breathing, there is more right with you than there is wrong with you, no matter what is wrong."
Yoga Nidra Gong Bath Nervous System Refresh with Astrology informationWhat to Expect at Energetic Experiences The room will be gently illuminated with twinkly white lights and candles. David will briefly explain the astrological significance of the day to prepare you to align your mind with the sounds of the gongs, which attune to the celestial bodies. You'll be lying on a cushy
purple mat, covered with a blanket, listening to gently intriguing gong sounds and other instruments. I will verbally guide you through a body scan and 30-minute meditation, called Yoga Nidra, also known as non-sleep deep rest. Why Slow Yoga and Journaling Belong TogetherWhen we slow down, we begin to notice. In slow yoga, every posture becomes an invitation to listen. The body speaks: sometimes in tension, sometimes in relief. Journaling immediately after practice captures these subtle messages before they slip away. Carl Jung described this as letting
the unconscious speak, while Tara Brach reminds us that radical self-compassion grows in moments of mindful attention. Combining these practices isn’t about self-improvement—it’s about self-discovery. You give your mind space to process what your body reveals. This gentle pairing supports spiritual emergence, creating a safe container for whatever arises—joy, grief, clarity, or confusion.
